Who was Micaela Bastidas Phuyuqhawa? Heroine of the uprising of 1781, military leader of troops both male and female, and wife of Thupa Amaru. We take the name of the precursor, on the one hand, because of our own professional and personal relationships with our colleagues and interlocutors in the Andean region, and on the other hand, as a tribute to the pioneering feminist group of Cusco, also known as the Círculo Micaela Bastidas.--
